Three places connected to the sea or Mar Menor and interesting to visit are San Pedro del Pinatar (Lo Pagan), Los Alcazares and Torre de la Horadada.

Lo Pagan

Our personal favorite is Lo Pagan a district of San Pedro del Pinatar. It has a very nice boulevard, the atmosphere is "tranquilo" but beside that everything you are looking for in a coastal area is available.

We often travel to Lo Pagan. Also our young mature children are enjoying the boulevard of Lo Pagan. The 4km long boulevard (ending in Santiago de la Riberia) has a variety of bars, terraces and restaurants, even a very populair discotheque. Also various shops and rental companies (bicycles, scooters, water sports) are found at the boulevard.

The prices are reasonable and the people friendly. In the summer, when the Mar Menor is getting warmer , the cooler Mediterranean Sea is nearby. 3 to 4 km more to the north is the town of Torre de la Horadada with beautiful beaches and a slightly more cooling breeze.

Bars, restaurants & other night life

There are several places in Lo Pagan where you can have a good meal and or drink. Our personal favorites close to the beach are:

If you want to go for some dancing and real night life, Disco Bastilla
is the place to be (according our children (age 18 to 24))

This restaurant is not situated directly at the boulevard. However it is our favorite place in Lo Pagan.

El Portugues serves typical Spanish dishes and is a place you need to visit. As the restaurant is very popular, it is recommended to make a reservation. Prices are fair and you can sit inside or on the street in front of the restaurant.

Not all staff speaks Spanish, but that will be resolved.
The menu of the day at Sunday (including half a bottle of wine per person) is highly recommended. It is very good for a price that is unbelievable.

Bar & Restaurant (Spanish/Indian)

The boardwalk

Directly situated at the boulevard you can find The Boardwalk bar & dining. This small bar / restaurant is unique mainly by the people serving you and the interior of the restaurant. As the owner explains, "my walls are covered by presents from my customers". The restaurant therefore has a pleasant atmosphere that immediately makes you feel at home.

The dishes served are Spanish or Indian orientated and prices are low.

If you want to drink some cocktails The Boardwalk is perfect . Find a nice place at the terrace and with the beautiful view over de Mar Menor your cocktail will taste even better.

Bar & Restaurant (Spanish)

2 Brothers

This bar restaurant is opened from the morning until late in the evening and is situated directly at the beach. The views over Mar Menor are perfect.

You can order several different Belgian Beers (tripels) . Also the breakfast is fine and for dinner we can suggest the Paella (2 persons minimum). As a dessert we really like the paparajotes. Lemon leaves coated with a dough made with flour and egg that are sprinkled with powder sugar and cinnamon. A typical Murcia Postre. Prices at 2B are fair, only the Dutch Frikandellen are a little expensive.

As 2 Brothers is situated beside Disco Bastilla you can close the night in style on the dance floor.

Gastro bar & lounge (European)

Cien Beach

At the gastro bar and lounge, they go that extra mile to provide an extraordinary culinary experience. They seek to provide a fine dining experience, but at normal restaurant prices and portion sizes.

They produce dishes and cocktails that assail the senses of taste, sight and smell – real food and drinks artistry.

Bastilla

Lo Pagan has a very popular Disco. In summer every evening and night it is party time. Around midnight people start getting in.

Early in the evening you can enjoy a beer or cocktail at the terrace that has a great view over the Mar menor.

The rest of the year Bastilla is also a good place to go to dance in the disco or have a drink at the terrace.

Mud baths

The Costa Blanca mud baths are one of the most popular destinations among eco tourists. Visiting the baths in the Costa Blanca is one most funniest things but also one of the most healthiest thing you will do in the Costa Blanca .

The Baths are located near San Pedro del Pinitar. Specificaly in the village of Lo Pagan at the beautiful Mar Menor. Although the baths are quite big, so don’t worry about getting a spot to get a bath in mud bath.

Besides the water temperature of the baths are warmer than the nearby Mar Menor or the Mediterranean sea. Only the surface water can be a little bit cold. So it is even possible to visit the Mud baths in the Winter.

Normally Mud baths are found in Expensive hotels and spas around the world. As you know they use a mud that has been processed. For example to remove the smell and impurities.

Because the Mud Baths at the’ Mar Menor Lo Pagan’ do have an

( terrible ) sulfur smell.So its better you wash of the mud and take a quick swim in the Mar Menor to get rid of the smell.

Also be aware that your bathing suits get dirty. I mean really black. So a quick shower and washing is advised. So get dirty !
And don’t be afraid or disappointed if you don’t feel any mud walking down the stairs .
Just walk a little bit further and you have lots of mud and heat zones. Just waiting for you to come and relax.
